Chiropractic Care & Infertility Support in Charleston, SC

Trying to grow your family and feeling like your body is not cooperating is exhausting in a way few other struggles are. At Charleston Chiropractic Studio in West Ashley, Dr. Leo and Dr. Kasandra Ruettiger offer specific, Gonstead-style chiropractic care as one supportive piece of your fertility journey, focused on how well your nervous system is communicating with the rest of your body.

How chiropractic care fits into a fertility journey

Let us be clear about what this page is and is not. Chiropractic care is not a fertility treatment, and we will never promise you a pregnancy. What we do is much more specific: we examine your spine for vertebral subluxations, areas where a misaligned or poorly moving segment may be interfering with normal nerve function, and we correct what we find with precise, hands-on adjustments.

Why does that matter to couples navigating fertility challenges? Your reproductive system does not run itself. It is regulated by your nervous system, the master communication network that coordinates hormone signaling, organ function, and your body's response to stress. The nerves that serve the reproductive organs exit the spine in the lower back and pelvic region. Our care is about removing structural interference so that communication network can work the way it was designed to.

This is the same root-cause philosophy we bring to everything at our studio. We do not chase symptoms. We look for the structural problem underneath, address it specifically, and let your body do what healthy bodies do.

What your evaluation looks like at Charleston Chiropractic Studio

Fertility struggles are personal, so your evaluation here is unhurried and private. We start with a thorough history: your health background, stress levels, prior injuries, and what your fertility journey has looked like so far, including any care you are receiving from your OB-GYN or a fertility specialist. We work as a complement to that medical care, never a replacement for it.

From there, both of our doctors practice Gonstead-style analysis, which means your spine is assessed segment by segment rather than as one generic unit. When your case calls for imaging, we have digital radiography on site, so X-rays can be taken and reviewed with you in our West Ashley office before any adjusting begins.

Your care plan is then built around what your examination actually shows. Depending on the findings, it may also draw on other services we offer in house:

  • Specific Gonstead-style adjustments to the exact spinal segments identified in your analysis
  • Stress and nervous system care, since chronic stress is a common companion on a long fertility road
  • Nutritional and wellness counseling to support your overall health during this season
  • Corrective and therapeutic exercise to support spinal structure between visits

Care from a husband-and-wife team who treats the whole family

There is something fitting about walking through a family-building season with a practice built by a family. Dr. Leo and Dr. Kasandra Ruettiger are a husband-and-wife team who have served Charleston together since 2019. Dr. Leo graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Dr. Kasandra earned a Biomedical Science degree at Laurentian University before graduating Cum Laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida.

Our practice is known around Charleston for pediatric and prenatal chiropractic care, so many patients who begin with us during a fertility season stay with us through pregnancy and then bring their little ones in as well. If and when pregnancy comes, our prenatal chiropractic care in Charleston is a natural next chapter, and our pediatric care is ready after that.

We also want every couple to feel safe here. Charleston Chiropractic Studio is a woman-owned, LGBTQ-welcoming practice with a wheelchair-accessible office at 1941 Savage Road Suite 300-D in West Ashley, serving families from Charleston, Mt Pleasant, Summerville, James Island, and Johns Island. Patients have given the practice a 4.9 rating across 178 Google reviews, and the personalized, unhurried visits they describe are exactly what a sensitive season like this deserves.

Honest expectations, specific care

You have probably already encountered plenty of big promises on your fertility journey. You will not get them here. What you will get is a careful structural evaluation, specific correction of any subluxations we find, and a team that coordinates respectfully with the rest of your providers.

Many couples simply want to know they have addressed every controllable factor: nutrition, stress, overall health, and yes, nervous system function. That is a reasonable goal, and it is one we can genuinely help with. If our examination does not show a structural issue we can help address, we will tell you that plainly too.

Want to know if your nervous system is part of the picture?

Schedule an evaluation with Dr. Leo or Dr. Kasandra. We will assess your spine segment by segment, explain what we find in plain language, and be honest about whether chiropractic care has a role in your journey.

Questions families ask us

Can chiropractic care cure infertility?

No, and you should be wary of anyone who claims it can. Chiropractic care does not treat infertility as a medical condition. What Dr. Leo and Dr. Kasandra Ruettiger do is identify and correct vertebral subluxations, structural spinal issues that can interfere with normal nervous system function. Since the nervous system regulates hormone signaling and reproductive organ function, keeping it free of structural interference is a supportive measure, used alongside, never instead of, care from your OB-GYN or fertility specialist.

Should I keep seeing my fertility doctor while under chiropractic care?

Absolutely. We view our role as complementary to your medical fertility care, not a substitute for it. During your history we will ask about the providers you are working with and any treatments underway, so our care plan fits respectfully around your medical plan. Many couples use our care to address the controllable pieces of the picture: stress, nutrition, overall health, and nervous system function.

What happens at the first visit for fertility-related care?

Your first visit at our West Ashley office includes a private, unhurried history and a Gonstead-style examination of your spine, segment by segment. If your case calls for imaging, we can take digital X-rays on site and review them with you before any adjusting begins. You leave knowing exactly what we found, whether we believe chiropractic care can help, and what a specific plan would look like.

Can you care for me if I become pregnant?

Yes. Prenatal and pregnancy chiropractic care is one of our core specializations, alongside pediatric care. Many patients who start with us during a fertility season continue right through pregnancy with our prenatal care, and later bring their infants in for gentle pediatric chiropractic. Call us at (843) 852-4141 to talk through where you are in the journey.
